Ramen Pilgrimage
I've been on leave for about two weeks but have remained quite busy. Thanks to the kids' school having so many days off throughout the year, their last day was Thursday. It kind of ruined my plans to hit Hokkaido before I left for Alaska, but we're heading out anyway now.
Sapporo is the capital of the Hokkaido prefecture and the motherland when it comes to Miso Ramen. My wife swears by Shoyu Ramen, but I find it boring and its Miso all the way for this kid. Anyway, we're headed out in a few minutes. Got hotel and ferry reservations, but we're missing one night's stay for a hotel and hope to grab something on the fly. Homelessness is eerie.
I've got a fence to finish putting up as soon as we get back, and about a day to spare before I head out of town. It's gonna be a tight schedule, but it wouldn't be "leave" if I was relaxed. At least I haven't worn any socks since it started, and I've got a kicking soul patch going, which are the two most important requirements to a good bit of time off from work.

Sorry...soul patches are gay...
Hope you had a great trip.
The soul patch is a small patch of facial hair just below the lower lip and above the chin. It came to prominence in the 1950s and 1960s and was a style of beard popular with beatniks and jazz artists. Jazz trumpeters in particular preferred the soul patch for the comfort it provided when using a trumpet mouthpiece.
okay, if you've picked up the trumpet again...1/2 gay
if you've picked up the trumpet again and are playing in smoky, late nite jazz clubs...1/4 gay (it is 2007)
if it is colored in any way...flaming
:)
