The Bank Job

During the trip to the Iwate Prefecture, we visited the city of Morioka. Pretty cool town. Lots of good restaurants, shopping, and history. One building I read about before we got there was on my list of things to see. Its the Morioka Bank, built in 1911. I've seen buildings that look like this in upstate NY, downtown Great Falls, MT, and other various places throughout "Any town, USA". I don't know shit about architecture, but I found this building to be really cool.

Same as the last post, I loved it, but had trouble photographing it. The traffic kept me out of the street, bushes and trees hindered shots from a distance, and being on a busy corner it had traffic signals in front of it.
Being built in 1911, I wanted to keep as much modern stuff out of the picture as possible, but it was just about impossible, so, I took around 30 different pictures and hoped for the best. I brought this one to Photoshop's world and tried my best to distract attention away from the modern stuff and focus just on the building itself. Here's what I came up with:

The original, cropped a lot, highlights adjusted

Here's the same shot with Sepia Tones

Plastic Wrap

I can't decide how to explain this one.

We were about to walk back to the Slim-mobile when I decided to photograph this:

A reflection of the past. Two modern buildings with a reflection of the old one.

Here she is, zoomed in. Another reflection of the past.
Photos most definitely by Tokyo Slim
