My Weber's Japanese Debut

My Weber Charcoal Grill on her Japan Debut. Two ribeye's, 8 hot dogs and a tinfoil full of fresh mushrooms, sliced onions, a crap ton of butter, rosemary, basil, garlic and pepper. Heavenly.

My Weber didn't quite make the trip to Japan in one piece. The retainer nuts that keep the wheels on are no-where to be found. Next slide please.

Yeah, vice grips holding my wheels on. "Big budget ghetto" might be accurate. If you can come up with a better description, please leave a comment.

My ideas so far for replacing the vice grips:
1. Tap and die kit; thread the axle, screw on a nut.
2. Drill through axle, pop in a cotter pin.
3. Put wheel on axle, put a washer on axle, sand, flux, and drop a bead of solder on the stainless steel axle to retain the washer, which retains the wheel. This is my favorite method.

If you have another idea for keeping these wheels on, please leave a comment. Its a stainless steel axle, the axle is stationary (the wheels do the turning) and there's about 1/2 inch of axle exposed when the wheels are on. The axle is aproximately 3/8" thick. Its a sagitarius, enjoys long walks on the beach, cuddling by the fire, and kittens.
