Kunizakai Festival
Ok, so since I've been back in Japan, I've traveled around quite a bit, taken a bunch of pictures and eaten a lot of food, but you wouldn't know that. Why? Because I've been a lazy bucket of shit and haven't updated my blog, so I'm sorry. So here's a long over due post from the first festival we went to since our return.
This is the Kunizakai Festival in Towada Lake. Kunizakai means border line and the Towada Lake region has three Prefectures (Akita, Aomori, and Iwate) bordering each other around the lake. All the performers and participants in the pictures below competed in their home prefectures and won, so these are the best of the best representening their prefectures.
A note about the floats: they aren't built on top of an old Caddie convertible and driven. They are built to stand alone and then picked up and carried or they are built on wheels and pulled by people. No sissy-fied internal combustion engines for these hard core sons of guns!
