Eating up Japan
So the best thing about living in hotels is you are forced to eat out alot. This gives you more of a neccessity to not cook; guilt-free laziness. Anyway, we wasted no time getting off base and enjoying the foods of Japan that we missed so much. Here's just a few of the things made by other people.
There will be a post soon of my return to the grill, Japanese style. Until then, here's some food, click to enlarge.

Convenient Store Cuisine, freakin awesome.

Tonkatsu Restaurant in the Shimoda Mall, scrumptious!

Apple Juice from the Towada Lake area, Apple-licious

One of the greatest things in Japan is canned coffee. The American version (those crappy frappucinos in the glass bottle) don't even compare. This one is brewed with the moutain spring water found near Towada Lake, around the Oirase Gorge area. Fantastic.

Miso Ramen, not a great picture, but a great bowl of noodles none the less. Got this from the food court at Shimoda Mall.

Some gyoza from the same place as the ramen. My first gyoza in about four years, too long to go without!

An ice cream cone from a rest stop along the coast. A tasty cool treat with super cool coastal views.

The view that accompanied the ice cream, a-la fish-eye lens.

The food looks great..Ms. Lilly wishes that she could cook like that...Have fun...hotels are a blast for a while..
Yeah, it was awesome coming back to Japan and eating the foods we loved. But we are in our house now and its time to cook for ourselves. We have some temporary pots and pans that really suck, so its still pretty tough to cook. Grills and a rice cooker have saved the day.
